As the 6th year of the war in Iraq begins, we have to find it within ourselves to take bigger steps to end this and the Afghanistan war. Make war a daily topic of conversation with family, friends and coworkers. Spread information about Winter Soldier II www.IVAW.org/WinterSoldier.
Help Veterans For Peace Chapter 16 with its lobbying efforts and public demonstrations, participate in public events, write letters to congress people and the media, take advantage of opportunities to speak in public, website design, etc.

SPREAD THE WORD Recognize that America is addicted to war and to violence. Let family, friends and coworkers know about the problems war creates. Acknowledge that as a nation, and we as citizens, benefit from this U.S. military and economic empire. By keeping our collective military boot on the necks of the people of the world we get control of a higher percentage of the world's resources. We, 5% of the global population in the U.S., use 25% of the global resource base.
Our enormously productive economy demands that we make consumption our way of life, that we convert the buying of goods into rituals, that we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction, in consumption. . . we need things consumed, burned up, replaced and discarded at an ever-accelerating rate.
